Many years ago, the six clans of the forest fought. Each had been given the gift of language from their ancestors, but each language was very different from the others. The clans did not understand each other. Then, the first Star Talker of each Can was senta language by the ancestors. And so, the Clans met and divised a plan for territory and pray which resolved the problem.
Afterward, the clans began to separate from one another, and the common tongue was forgotten.
Now, a member of each clan has received a message from the ancestors- danger is approaching, a threat to all clans. It is the SpiritWalkers. They walk in both the world of the living, and the dead. The SpiritWalkers have sealed the portal from the physical world to the spirit world, cutting off all communication from the ancestors to the StarTalkers, the members of the clans who translate messages from the stars.
The ones who know now carry the burden of warning the clans. But this task will prove difficult. The StarTalkers insist that they must receive a sign from the ancestors; if there was any real danger they would know. They refuse to believe the truth. As the SpiritWalkers draw nearer, bringing darkness along with them, the six who know become more and more desperate to prove to their clans that banding together, recreating the lost language, and fighting as one is the only way to stop the rise of the dark.
